Here, I will explain about greetings and other useful phrases that are frequently used.

* Reading Methods

1. Words which ends with “U” are usually eliminated.

e.g: itadakimasu, supposed to be read as “itadakimas”

2. Same goes to words containing?“hi” in the middle.

e.g: Douitashimashite, we read “Douitashimaste”

3. For words ending with “n”, it is to be read as “ng”

e.g: Sumimasen should be read as “Suimaseng”

As you noticed in point no.3, that we do not read Sumimasen as Sumimaseng but Suimaseng.

Which means that “mi” placed in the middle of a word are to be read with “i”.

This rule does NOT count for “Midori” = “Idori”
